We are a strongly community-based club and are keen to promote tennis as a means of enabling locals, both adult and children, to participate in both sporting and social activities. We also arrange regular coaching for our junior members to ensure that their skills develop, and for the more competitive there are competitions and leagues organised throughout the year. At the beginning of 2015 membership stood at record numbers, with families, junior, and adult participation at very high levels.
Juniors coaching every week with our resident coaches
Monaleen GAA Tennis Club was founded in 1994 by a group of local women, with the primary aim of getting to know more people in what was only beginning to grow into the Monaleen/Castletroy area. Greatly encouraged by Monaleen GAA Club, who made their existing hard court available to the group, the Tennis Club quickly prospered and grew in size. Very soon a second hard court was added, and in time both were converted to Astroturf surfaces. In 2004, the club really arrived with the installation of new state of the art floodlights. The club has recently gone from being a 2 to 4 court facility with the completion in June 2015 of two new astroturf courts at the back of the clubhouse.
Monaleen GAA Tennis Club is a four-court club attached to Monaleen GAA Club and located in its grounds on Schoolhouse Road. All members of the Tennis Club are automatically paid-up social members of Monaleen G.A.A. Club, which includes access to use the newly refurbished clubhouse and bar during all normal opening hours.
