November 2nd, saw the first day of the WinterLeague – though it was probably hotter and calmer than any day during the Summer! The club had two excellent victories. Our Grade 3 team commenced at midday on the new courts against Ballinlough of Cork. Cezary Wisniewski and Tommy Judkowiak won their men’s doubles in fine style while Gillian Carragher and Jennifer Colford were one point away from winning theirs but just come up short in a keenly contested match. Both the mixed doubles pairings won their matches to win the tie 3-1. There was a great atmosphere in the club with an U13 hurling match going on, the ball wall in full use and a team training on the new pitch. The Cork team were very impressed! It was then the turn of the Grade 5 WinterLeague team to play against the ‘old enemy’ Nenagh! Michelle McCarthy and Ruth Buckley had an excellent win in the ladies doubles and Pat O’Shaughnessy and John Harkins won their men’s doubles. It became a 4-0 sweep for Monaleen when both mixed doubles pairings won their matches in fine style – a great start to the WinterLeague season. The schedule for the remaining matches in 2015 is as follows. All matches commence at 2pm. All support is greatly appreciated.

Each year in April/May, the Monaleen GAA Tennis Club Mixed Doubles Competition is held for graded players and novices. The competition consists of a round robin element on one night with players qualifying for a QF/SF depending on the numbers participating. In general and again depending on the number of entrants, the competition is graded. All matches are scheduled but players may agree to play a match in advance of the scheduled time. There is a finals day where all finals are scheduled. This is followed by a prize giving and social event in the Clubhouse.
